Construction and Performance Analysis of Two-Dimensional Variable-Weight Optical MOLS/VWFRS Code

A new MOLS/VWFRS code, characterized by a two-dimensional variable-weight optical code that utilizes mutually orthogonal latin square (MOLS) for wavelength hopping and variable weight fixed right shift (VWFRS) code for time spreading, is proposed. The code can support multiple Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, and the wavelength hopping sequence can reach the maximum code capacity of the wavelength hopping code. The construction method of MOLS/VWFRS is presented, and the performance was analytically studied for the proposed techniques in terms of bit error rate (BER), autocorrelation, cross-correlation and the number of users. The error characteristics of different parameters are analyzed. The obtained results, when the wavelength hopping sequence is the same, increasing the code weight can effectively reduce the BER. The BER of MOLS/VWFRS is reduced by 5 ~ 9 orders of magnitude compared to reported techniques such OOC/SVWOOC and N-QCHC/SVWOOC in the same time spreading sequence. MOLS/VWFRS code can effectively improve the BER performance and has a higher capacity.
