Cross-Polarization Isolation Requirement for Polarimetric Weather Radar Under ATSR Mode and STSR Mode

Polarimetric Doppler weather radar has become an irreplaceable tool for weather observation. Currently, polarimetric weather radar usually operates in the alternately transmitting and simultaneously receiving mode and the simultaneously transmitting and simultaneously receiving mode. In these two operating modes, the cross-polarization coupling of the radar system may affect the measurement accuracy of polarization parameters. This paper quantitatively analyzes the cross-polarization isolation level required in different operating modes and precipitation conditions to attain the accuracy of polarization parameter and spectral moment parameter measurement.
