Fast-Phase-Switching Vector-Sum Phase Shifter with Optimal Mapping of Current Switches

This paper presents fast-phase-switching vector sum phase shifter with optimal mapping of current switches to provide six reference voltages for folding circuits. This optimal mapping method generates suitable six reference voltages with half the number of current switches, achieving high-speed phase switching and linear phase control characteristics with low power consumption. A prototype phase shifter exhibits linear phase shift characteristics up to $450^\circ$ at 2.5 GHz without any digital pre-calculation. The measured phase switching time is 500 ns.
