Design and test of sensor for plume heat flow measurement

In this paper, a differential heat flow sensor was designed and developed for the measurement of the engine plume heat flow based on temperature gradient and the principle of the relationship between temperature difference and heat flow. Through the analysis of the factors affecting the sensor response time, it is determined that the main factors affecting the sensor response time are measuring the diameter and thickness of the cavity, which provides a basis for the preparation of the sensor. Through the preparation and testing of the sensors, the test results showed that the response times of the two heat flow meters were 50 ms and 90 ms respectively, which could meet the requirements of the engine ground test plume heat flow measurements.
