Positioning Accuracy Using UWB in Coal Mine Tunnel: Analysis and Simulation

According to the principle and mechanism of UWB (Ultra Wide Band) positioning, the advantages and disadvantages of each realization method are analyzed with the coal mine tunnel as the background. In order to estimate the positioning accuracy using UWB in coal mine tunnel, the TOA (Time of Arrival) technique is selected to implement a MATLAB-based positioning simulation experiment. Through the analysis of the experimental data, it is concluded that the distance between the mobile tag and the base station has a significant impact on the positioning accuracy in a narrow space. As the tag moves away from the base station, the UWB positioning error increases.
