Optimization of Interconnection Capacity Between Wind and Solar Interconnected Regional Power Grids

The purpose of this paper is to determine the size of the interconnection capacity between wind and solar interconnected regional grids in order to fully utilize the interconnection potential of the cross-regional grids, to reduce the allocation of system reserve capacity, and to improve the reliability of system operation. Firstly, from the perspective of source-load matching, we analyze the complementary characteristics of renewable energy output and load demand in the wind-solar interconnected regional grid, as well as the feasibility of interconnection between regional grids, and propose a quantitative method to evaluate the interconnection capacity of residual power after source-load matching. On this basis, this paper constructs a spatio-temporal interconnection capacity optimization and assessment model for regional grids, which takes the minimization of the overall operating cost of the wind-solar interconnected regional grids as the objective, and at the same time considers the constraints such as the internal and external power interactions of the system and the residual power interconnection capacity after source-load matching. To solve this optimization model, the CPLEX solver in MATLAB is employed. The validity of the proposed model is verified through case simulation analysis, which provides a scientific basis for the optimization of the interconnection capacity of wind-solar interconnected regional power grids.
