Overview of the Development and Application of Offshore Direct Current Transmission Technology

With the global emphasis on environmental protection and sustainable development, the development and utilization of renewable energy such as offshore wind power have become an important trend. Offshore wind power generation requires long-distance transmission to reach the user end, which is accomplished through direct current transmission. The paper elaborates on the working principle of offshore direct current transmission, analyzes the structure of offshore direct current transmission systems, and focuses on the principles, development, and application of converter technology, submarine cables, reactive power compensation, protection technology in offshore direct current transmission. Finally, two typical offshore direct current transmission projects are introduced, and the future development of offshore direct current transmission is discussed.
