Research on Motor Control of Steer-by-Wire for Intelligent Vehicles Based on Flood-PID Algorithm

To improve the control performance of the steering-by-wire system, an improved flood PID control algorithm for the steering motor is proposed.First, by analysing the structure and dynamic characteristics of the wire-rope steering system, a mathematical model of the steering system and motor is developed. Then, A PID controller is then designed to target steering motor angle to achieve precise steering angle control.By incorporating human learning mechanisms to boost population diversity in the flood optimization algorithm, a refined flood-PID steering motor control algorithm was developed. Finally, the results were confirmed experimentally on the steer-by-wire test bench using a combined simulation with the CarSim software and MATLAB/Simulink.Simulation results and bench tests indicate that the enhanced flood-PID control algorithm presented in this paper effectively adapts to system changes and disturbances, achieving precise motor angle control and enhancing the steering system's reliability.
