Impact Water Replacement in Passive Cooling System to Solar Cell Performances

The heat brought by the sunlight has the potential to reduce the performance of solar cells. To overcome this problem, various solar panel cooling systems have been proposed. One of them is a passive cooling system using water. This research investigates the effectiveness of changing the water of the solar cell cooling system to increase the solar cell output power. The experiment results showed that the solar cells experienced a decrease in surface temperature after the water content of the cooling system was replaced. The average surface temperature decrease was 5.64%. This temperature reduction causes an average increase in solar cell power output of 0.62W. Although the average voltage drops by 16mV, the current rises higher by around 0.14A on average. Meanwhile, the average temperature of the replaced water is 32.57 °C.
