Design and Construction of a Pico Hydro Power Plant Using a Turgo Turbine on the Bah-Biak Waterfall Flow

One of the main forms of energy needed for electrical equipment is electrical energy, The potential for hydropower in Indonesia is 75 GW, mostly spread across Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Papua. The problem of water energy sources that are not utilized to become electrical energy is the purpose of this study. So in this study, utilizing the energy of the Bah-Biak waterfall which is a hydropower potential located in Sidamanik District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. This waterfall has a fairly stable flow, then a turbo turbine is used for the Pico hydropower plant. Based on the test results, the results obtained with a Nozzle distance of 20 cm, a generator rotation speed is 964.4 RPM, a voltage value is 13.8 V and a current generated is 1.21 A. While at a Nozzle distance of 60 cm, the generator rotation speed is 876.8 RPM, the voltage value is 13.35 V and the current generated is 0.92 A. The highest power generated by a pico hydro power plant with a turbo turbine with a Nozzle distance of 20 cm and a water discharge of 23 is 19.86 Watts.
