Privacy-Preserving in Data Aggregation for Smart Grid: A Comprehensive Review

The aggregation of smart grid data is essential for effective energy management and optimization. However, the aggregation process exposes data to risks such as network eavesdropping, data breaches, and malicious tampering, which can compromise user privacy and lead to data misuse. To address these privacy concerns in smart grid data aggregation, this paper introduces three evaluation criteria for assessing aggregation schemes and provides a comprehensive overview of existing solutions. The primary focus is on aggregation schemes based on homomorphic encryption, with a brief examination of alternative approaches. The methods and performance of each type of scheme are analyzed. In conclusion, the paper identifies the limitations of current schemes and offers suggestions for future research directions in privacy-preserving data aggregation within smart grids.
