Research on optimization of bulldozer blade based on joint simulation technology

With the intensification of global environmental issues, the demand for energy conservation and emission reduction in construction machinery, including bulldozers, has increased. Bulldozers, in particular, face criticism for their high fuel consumption and emissions. This study introduces a co-simulation approach integrating RecurDyn (multibody dynamics) and EDEM (discrete element methods) to enhance bulldozer energy efficiency. A three-dimensional model of a tracked bulldozer was developed in RecurDyn, using empirical data and simplified physical properties. EDEM was employed to simulate material interaction through the creation of a material pile model. Data transfer between the two software platforms was achieved via a Wall file for comprehensive analysis. The study examined three different blade curvatures, finding that a moderate increase in curvature reduces resistance and power consumption, leading to improved energy efficiency. These findings provide valuable insights into energy-saving strategies for construction machinery and the optimization of bulldozer blade designs using co-simulation technology.
