A Novel Y-Connection Single Stage Three Phase Active-Half-Bridge AC-DC Series-Resonant Converter

Series-resonant based dual-active-bridge circuit (SRC or SR-DAB) topology and corresponding phase-shift based modulation strategies became promising in grid-tied energy storage bidirectional converter selection, however, the strong coupled non-linear relationship between power level and controlled variables makes such strategies hard to control. In some applications, 3-Φ grid employs three individual SR-DAB topology, which largely increase the system complexity. This paper proposes a novel topology of series-resonant circuit for single stage 3-Φ AC-DC converter, along with a simplified modulation strategy. Three ground-connected half bridges with parallel decoupling capacitors will clamp the switching point voltage up automatically, results in a simple switching pattern on the primary side. An adaptive active clamping switching modulation will further shape the decoupling capacitor voltage for better performance. On the secondary side three groups of full bridges are employed with an adaptive phase shift, which enables instant power level matching for PFC function. Finally, a detailed simulation result and experimental verification is introduced.
