An Automated Time-Domain Modeling Approach

With the development of power electronics technology, multi-stage power converters are more and more applied into real applications to form a bigger or more functional system, such as ultrahigh voltage gain and so on. However, with the number of the converters increases and the coupling of the controls between the converters become strong, the complexity of the manually modeling for the multi-stage power converters system following increases. In this paper, an automated time-domain modeling approach by computer aid is proposed for the first time. A two-stage buck converter is taken as an example, the approach is introduced firstly, which can be divided 4 steps: graph extraction, mode matrix generation, the state equations automatic derivation of the main circuit and the state equations automatic derivation of the control section. Further, the waveforms of each state variables obtained by using the proposed automated time-domain modeling approach and by using the circuit simulation are compared to prove the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed approach. It should be noticed that establishing the state equations of the two-stage buck converter by using the proposed automated time-domain modeling approach only take 0.62s, which is much faster than the manual modeling process. Finally, the conclusions are drawn. This paper provides a fast way to establish the time-domain state equations of a complex power converters system.
