High-Frequency PCB Resonator Designs With Quality Factor Exceeding 1000

This paper presents two designs of resonator structures using printed-circuit-boards (PCBs) that can achieve a quality factor (Q) exceeding 1000. The first design consists of two PCBs with air in the middle, while the second design features a single PCB with copper traces on both sides and Rogers material in the middle. Both designs can be configured as either a parallel LC or a series LC resonator. The paper showcases the design results and presents the results from actual testing, demonstrating the ability of both designs to achieve a high Q factor. These PCB resonator structures offer versatility and potential for various applications.
