Thermal Distribution Optimization Method for Inductive Power Transfer System Utilizing Nanocrystalline Flake Ribbon Core

As a novel magnetic material, nanocrystalline has attracted much attention because of its high saturation flux density and configurable permeability characteristics. The nanocrystalline flake ribbon (NFR) core is used to reduce the eddy current and lower the core loss. In this paper, a thermal distribution optimization method via NFR has been proposed for the inductive power transfer (IPT) system. Unlike traditional ferrite, the thickness of NFR can be arbitrarily adjusted on one strip magnetic core without the limitation of mechanical brittleness and manufacturing mould. Based on this superior advantage, NFR strip cores with different thicknesses are laminated. A 1 kW experiment platform with a compact coupler is fabricated to verify the thermal performance of these NFR cores. The experiment results show that the maximum temperature in the center area can be mitigated from 55 °C to 41.6 °C, and the transmission efficiency can reach 92.14%.
