Photovoltaic Array Mismatch Analysis for Differential Power Processing Systems Using Real-World Data

This study analyzes photovoltaic (PV) string mismatch modeling based on real-world field data to identify the statistical probability of the operating power level needed for differential power processing (DPP) converters. The objective is to quantify and characterize the effects of environmental variability on PV system performance, focusing on the mismatch in current and power output. Through the development and validation of a single-diode PV model, this work uses operation data from 12 channels of a bifacial PV panel to calculate each channel’s PV power. The power differences over a day are used to calculate the power needed for DPP converters to reach the maximum power point, and statistical analysis is used to determine the power difference levels over a month.
