Switch Open Fault Detection of Asymmetric 6-phase PMSM Based on Normalized Stationary Reference Frame dq-axis Currents

This paper proposes a switch-open fault detection algorithm for multiplexed drives for driving asymmetric six-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors based on stationary coordinate system dq-axis current. the electric motor covered in this paper has an asymmetric structure with 30° of electric phase difference in each of the three-phase windings and a neutral point separated. Compared to the existing three-phase windings, this structure can achieve high output, high efficiency, and torque pulsation reduction, and continuous output can be obtained through the sole three-phase drive even in the event of a switch opening failure, which is an advantageous topology for the application of switch opening failure detection and permission operation techniques. the switch-open fault detection algorithm of the multiplexed drive topology proposed a switch-open fault detection algorithm by normalizing the stator current through the variable all pass filter and the low pass filter using the double stationary coordinate system dq-axis current information, and the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through several experiments.
