Simulation study on the heat dissipation system of lithium-ion battery packs for pure electric vehicles

With the promotion of "green mobility" and "carbon peak" policies, electric vehicles and their core components, lithium-ion batteries, have attracted much attention. The performance of Li-ion batteries is significantly affected by temperature, and the heat generated during charging and discharging needs to be dissipated in a timely manner to ensure battery life and safety. Therefore, the heat dissipation and temperature control of the battery pack are of utmost importance. In this paper, the finite element analysis method and Fluent software are used to simulate the forced convection of three lithium-ion batteries at different discharge multiples, focusing on the study of heat dissipation characteristics. After comprehensive comparison, it is found that the 4×6 configuration of the battery pack has the best heat dissipation performance, which meets the established requirements and provides an important reference for optimising the battery design and improving the performance of the whole vehicle.
