Message Queuing Telemetry Transport Utilization for Internet of Things-Based Document Locker Management

In certain cases, the digitalization of important governmental documents is undergoing rapid development, but many documents still require official hard copies, which are tedious to obtain in addition to requiring face-to-face contact. Leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) and Message Queueing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) technology, the objective of this research is to develop a locker system to store sensitive documents in key spots, controlled with a simple and intuitive system, facilitating streamlined access to documents while minimizing the need for physical visits to centralized offices, thereby promoting reduced face-to-face interactions. This is achieved by using a WeMOS D1 R32 unit and a 16-channel relay controlling a series of solenoid door locks, listening to messages sent in an MQTT topic. General maintainability of the device is suboptimal, requiring further research and development.
