The Influence of Social Media Usage on Relational Dialectics of Marriage Relationships in Indonesia

This study examines the impact of social media use on the dynamics of marital relationships in Indonesia, especially in the context of marriages in the Jabodetabek area. Along with the increasing use of digital platforms, concerns have arisen that social media may affect marital ties. The method used was quantitative with a questionnaire, involving 250 married respondents. The results showed that social media use had a significant relationship with openness between couples, but its impact on marital certainty and connectedness was relatively limited. These findings indicate that although digital interactions can improve communication and openness in relationships, their effects on emotional aspects and marital stability are smaller. This study provides insight into the role of social media in strengthening openness in marriage, while also showing that its impact on other aspects of the relationship is more limited in the context of marriage in Indonesia. The contribution of this study enriches the literature on social media and marital relationships in the context of Indonesian culture.
