Sustainable Ecotourism Development Through Open Innovation and Infrastructure Facilities: Systems Modeling Approach

The objective of this study is to examine the influence of open innovation and infrastructural facilities on the development of sustainable ecotourism. This work utilizes a system modelling and simulation approach, analysis data with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The practice of open innovation, which involves working together with many stakeholders, fosters the creation of novel solutions that improve the attractiveness of ecotourism locations and stimulate the involvement of the local population in ecotourism activities. In addition to enhancing the visitor experience, high-quality infrastructure also increases local revenue. The PLS-SEM method uncovers substantial associations among these factors, with the study validating the favorable influence of infrastructure on visitor satisfaction and revenue, as well as the function of open innovation in promoting sustainable ecotourism. The significance of stakeholder cooperation and infrastructure investments in attaining sustainability goals is emphasized by these results. By addressing gaps in stakeholder participation and infrastructure development, the study adds to the literature on sustainable ecotourism and provides actionable insights for destination managers and policymakers in formulating sustainable policies.
