Recent advancements in flame sensors

Fire is one of the main factors that cause serious disasters and economic risks. Every year, a large number of fires around the world cause incalculable damage and indescribable suffering. Therefore, it is essential to implement effective fire warning technologies in order to minimize the impact of the fire. The technology of flame sensors, which belongs to the branch of fire detection technology, can be used as an effective flame detection approach. Although previous research on flame-sensing technology has tried to improve the performance of flame sensors in different aspects, fire detection technology still faces challenges in reducing false alarms and improving sensitivity. This review provides an in-depth look at the current advances in non-visual and visual flame sensors. These flame detection technologies can be applied in different flame scenarios, such as large industries, forests, or small indoor scenes. At the same time, this review intends to analyze the different fire detection methods, as well as their respective key technical means and advantages. Finally, the current research direction and challenges of the technology of flame sensors are put forward, and the future development direction of flame sensors is prospected. Hopefully, this review could inspire research into flame sensors.
