Experimental Verification of Human-Body Ranging Using Wi-Fi CSI

This paper proposes a human-body ranging method using Multiple-Input Single-Output (MISO) Wi-Fi radar, and reports its experimental evaluation of ranging accuracy. The proposed method estimates the path length from the transmitter to receiver via human-body based on Time-Of-Flight (TOF) calculated by Wi-Fi’s Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) channel. The experimental result shows that the distance estimation error was 1.34 m in the proposed method, and improved by 2.05 m compared with the authors’ previously proposed technique.
