Miniaturization of Patch Antenna Incorporated by Magnetized Yttrium Iron Garnet

Due to its superiority in performance at microwave frequencies, Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) has been frequently used to enhance the performance of radio frequency (RF) devices. This study investigates the feasibility of YIG ferrite incorporation within the host dielectric substrate to miniaturize the size of patch antennas. The proposed magneto-dielectric patch antenna is designed and fabricated on multi-layer Rogers RO4003C dielectric substrates, with the total thickness of 1.61 mm. The measurement results, including the resonant frequency response and S11 parameter, are presented and discussed.
