Developing 244 Terengganu Scenic Drive Using Augmented Reality For Sustainable Tourism and Community Well-Being.

The tourism industry is among the third largest resources in Malaysia and is one of the most important industries contributing to the revenue of Terengganu. A detailed tourism planning and strategy must be implemented in order to celebrate the tourism country within 5 years as stated in the Tourism Terengganu Strategic Plan 2021-2025. In the context of tourism planning, this is a challenge to develop a tourism product that can attract domestic and international travellers to enjoy the tourism experience in Terengganu and to ensure that the economic, social, and environmental impacts of tourism product are positive and lasting for the communities involved. This is an improvement initiative for tourism products along the 244 KM coastal area of Negeri Terengganu starting from the Besut area to Kemaman through the development of the 244 Terengganu Scenic Drive (244 TSD) using AR. This establishment is also included as one of the strategies to achieve the State of Tourism by 2025 and to sustain community well-being via community-based tourism activities. The method used for this research includes the TSD assessment for the route assessment, site inventory, and observations along the Besut to Kemaman route, assessment of tourism resources for the development of AR Applications. The study findings revealed that the Coastal Landscape Character significantly related to the Terengganu Scenic Drive. Future planning and development of 244 Terengganu Scenic Drive should integrate the Coastal Landscape Character and Spiritual Tourism towards sustaining and achieving community well-being via community-based tourism.
