Dual Band Rectifier Circuit Design for Wireless Power Transfer to IoT Devices

In the proposed work, a dual-band rectifier circuit design is proposed for power transmission to wireless IoT devices at 2.4 and 4.33 GHz. The aim of this proposed work is to convert radiofrequency energy into electrical energy with high efficiency at resonant frequencies. Therefore, the most suitable dual band matching circuit is selected to ensure impedance matching. The designed circuit consists of matching circuit, rectification element, filter circuit and load element. In this circuit, SMS7630 Schottky diode with fast switching feature at high frequencies is preferred as the rectifying element. It is important that the RF-DC rectification circuit can operate with high efficiency at low input powers. The proposed study is designed in Advanced Design System (ADS) and simulation results are analysed. The designed dual-band rectifier circuit has the highest conversion efficiency of $66 \%$ at 2.4 GHz and $60 \%$ at 4.33 GHz at 0 dBm input power. The DC output voltage obtained from a fixed load connected to the output of the circuit is measured as 0.8 V at 2.4 and 4.33 GHz at 0 dBm input power. The results obtained show that the RF-DC rectification circuit can be preferred for power transmission to low-power IoT devices.
