Importance of Antenna VRP in Radiation Protection Consideration

Compliance of radiation levels from transmitting stations with safety limits for general public exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) is important issue in our times. Vertical radiation patterns (VRP) of the antenna systems are most important factor determining field strength distribution in area around transmitting station. Proper shape of VRP can minimise radiation and lead to conformity with limits given in regulations concerning radiation protection because of possibility of health hazard. In paper two examples of VRP modification on existing antenna systems has been presented. Such modernisation allows for substantial decreasing of radiation in area near transmitting station. VRP modifications were prepared by computer simulations and verify by measurements.
