Beam Aggregation for Hybrid-NOMA Assisted Multi-User Downlink MISO Transmission

This letter aims to develop a novel multi-user hybrid non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) transmission strategy for the downlink multiple-input single-output (MISO) scenario. In particular, preconfigured beams for near-field legacy users are utilized through beam aggregation so as to serve multiple far-field additional users simultaneously. An energy consumption minimization problem is formulated and efficiently solved by using non-convex optimization techniques. Simulation results verify the theoretical assumption and demonstrate the effectiveness of beam aggregation in enhancing the performance of downlink multi-user hybrid NOMA transmission.
