Reducing False Alarm Situation in LPG Leak Detection Using Arduino-Based Multi-Sensor (MQ-2, MQ-5, and MQ-6 Gas Sensor) Module

LPG is an alternative fuel used for daily use. Due to its low cost and ease of installation. This article covers an Arduino-based gas detection system that uses an Arduino UNO R3 board and gas sensors like MQ-2, MQ-5, and MQ-6, making it possible to monitor gases present in LPG. Specifically, the MQ-5 sensor detects LPG, methane, and smoke. These sensors send data to an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller and utilize it to determine the gas concentration and trigger security precautions. When the concentration exceeds a threshold, then it gives an alarm to the user. This device also has an optional LCD screen for feedback in real time and an implicit buzzer. It showed during tests that the leaks were detected by sensors, and the alarms were working effectively as necessary. Upcoming enhancements include attachment of additional sensors, wireless connection for remote observation, and cloud-based data storage.
