Natural Language Processing in Education System

Natural Language Processing (NLP) leverages linguistics and computer technology to create intelligent systems, and its use in education has grown due to the abundance of educational content. NLP addresses challenges faced by educators and students, particularly in generating relevant, context-based word problems that enhance online learning. The proposed method focuses on generating legitimate mathematical word problems while tracking the relationship between problem validity and generation time. Additionally, an NLP-powered Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) is explored with a pilot prototype chatbot designed to help students grasp programming concepts in elementary and secondary education. Test results demonstrated the potential of a cloud-based system for improving student learning. The paper also examines integrating NLP resources in Irish primary education, particularly two NLP engines used in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) for Irish language instruction. The goal is to improve learning outcomes by incorporating NLP tools into instructional materials and receiving positive feedback from students and teachers.
