A Modified Simplified Subentire Domain Basis Function Method for Finite Periodic Arrays

A modified simplified subentire domain (SSED) basis function method is presented for solving electromagnetic scattering by the finite periodic arrays. In the method, the SSED bases defined on the cell are obtained by analyzing one cell excited by multiple plane waves. The number of SSED bases is independent of the gap size between the cells. Afterwards, a reduced matrix equation can be obtained. The size of matrix equation is less than that based on modified accurate SED basis functions. Numerical results are shown to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of this new method.
