Enhancing Data Security and Privacy in Electronic Health Records with Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology might improve security and privacy of electronic health records solving important management of sensitive patient data related problems. Blockchain protects EHRs against tampering and unapproved access by being a distributed, unchangeable record of all data modifications. BC uses cryptographic methods to limit system access to authorised people only, therefore safeguarding patient confidentiality of health records. as smart contracts into blockchain systems also helps them to be more compliant with laws as HIPAA and GDPR. These agreements simplify the handling of consent in keeping with privacy criteria. Knowing that their patients' data will be delivered securely via this connection will help doctors to relax. The ultimate aims are better data management and healthier patients. Analysing current literature, selecting a platform, building a prototype of a smart contract, integrating the system, and running controlled testing are the phases in investigating how blockchain technology may improve the security along with privacy of EHR data. According to the findings, BC technology might improve EHR handling in addition to protecting patient personal health records. Using EHRs, this study examines the benefits and drawbacks of blockchain technology. The results show that blockchain technology not only improves the dependability together with data security but also makes systems more flexible, compatible with one another, along with in conformity with all relevant rules. Obstacles do, however, exist include problems with technology maturity, resource allocation, and cost. The paper argues that these issues must be resolved before blockchain technology can be widely used in EHR systems. Apart from improving data management in healthcare, blockchain technology may result in more private and safe electronic health records. Studies of automated decision-making combined with predictive analytics should focus mostly on issues of scalability, interoperability, user acceptability, governance, and technological integration.
