Development of Software, a Single-Dimensional Model for Blood Vessels

This paper discusses the development of software for modeling a single-dimensional cardiovascular system using a finite difference method. The aim is to create an efficient instrument for simulating and analyzing hemodynamic processes in various areas of the human circulatory system, including the aorta, the artery, capillary tract, veins (elbow) and other organs. The finite difference technique is used to numerically solve differential equations describing vascular circulation. The model relies on equations, utilizing the finite difference method tailored for one-dimensional scenarios to consider nonlinear effects and blood viscosity. The program contains algorithms for computing variations in pressure, daily pressure monitoring, and vessel deformation based on time and spatial location. Special focus is given to simulating the pulse wave, how it travels and bounces back in different areas of the circulatory system. This allows for the examination of how different physiological factors, like artery wall stiffness and blood thickness, affect blood flow dynamics. The program considers real physiological situations like heart valve function and interactions with the microvascular system when dealing with boundary conditions. The model can analyze both the healthy and diseased conditions of the cardiovascular system. It enables the study of how various diseases such as atherosclerosis and hypertension affect blood flow and blood vessel pressure. In addition, the model can be applied for testing and enhancing medical treatments and devices such as stents and implants. The findings from the simulation could be beneficial for both basic research in biomedical engineering and physiology and practical issues in medicine. The tool offered by the program is robust for researchers and clinicians to predict and analyze.
