A Full Planar Low-Profile Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Antenna Based on Structure Reusing

A low-profile dual-band dual-polarized full planar antenna is developed by structure reusing. The antenna is made up of 4×4 square rings. All the square rings form the low-band antenna (LBA). Four center square rings serve as high-band antenna (HBA), which are also part of the LBA. The LBA is differentially fed with four feeding probes. The HBA is excited by two coaxial cables. Because the LBA reuses the HBA, the dual-band antenna has a full planar structure. The dual-band antenna achieves impedance matching of VSWR < 1.5 for the low band (LB) of 1.38-1.53 GHz and the high band (HB) of 1.76-2.06 GHz. The port isolation is > 43 dB in the LB and > 30 dB in the HB. A 4-element dual-band dual-polarized full planar antenna array has been investigated to demonstrate the potential of the proposed antenna in base station applications.
