Design of Double-Balanced Broadband Mixer in GaAs

This paper presents a double balanced passive broadband mixer with Schottky diodes based on a 0.15 μm GaAs process. The mixer utilizes Marshand spiral transformers on coupled lines with a bandwidth of 5 – 20 GHz. The developed mixer ranges from 5 to 20 GHz and shows a conversion loss of −7 dB. The isolation between the RF input and IF is more than 25 dB, between the LO and IF is more than 17 dB.
