The Use of Associated Petroleum Gas by Burning it in a Mixture with Natural Gas in a Combined Cycle Gas Plant to Generate Mechanical Energy and Electricity

This article discusses in detail the problem of flaring associated petroleum gas and its negative impact on the environment. The main task is to reduce the volume of associated gas burned in flares, in order to increase the welfare of the state and improve the environmental situation in the oil production region. The study considers the possibility of using associated petroleum gas to generate electricity. For this purpose, associated petroleum gas was selected, produced at the main oil fields of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and the city of Nizhnevartovsk, in particular at the Samotlorskoye field. One of the ways to convert associated petroleum gas into electricity is the Brighton-Rankine combined cycle. To compensate for the unstable composition and variable consumption of associated petroleum gas, we suggest using it in combination with natural gas and feeding the mixture into the combustion chamber. When using this method, the associated gas consumption and the natural gas consumption will constantly change throughout the entire period of operation of the installation.
