Design of Triangular Based 4 X 4 Array Microstrip Patch Antenna and Comparing with 2 X 2 Triangular Array Microstrip Patch Antenna for X-Band Application

The design of a novel 4 X 4 array triangular patch antenna (TPA) is described here and compares its Bandwidth performance with a 2 X 2 array TPA for X-Band (i.e., 8-12 GHz) applications using HFSS software. The Bandwidth performance with a 2 X 2 array TPA (n=27) at 10 GHz frequency is compared with a novel 4 X 4 array TPA (n=27). A pre-test power of 80% was used to compute the 54 samples utilizing sample calculation. The novel 4 X 4 array TPA shows a Bandwidth of 11.78 GHz whereas the 2 X 2 array TPA shows a Bandwidth of 6.59 GHz. This study's significance level is less than 0.001 (p<0.05). The observed results indicate that for X-band applications, significantly the novel 4 X 4 array TPA shows better bandwidth performance than the 2 X 2 array TPA.
