A Novel Approach for Change Detection in Agricultural Land using Satellite Generated Time Series Data

The land usage for agricultural activities is varying recently due to various changes taking place like urbanisation, industrialization etc. Observing the changes and monitoring the land usage for agriculture is crucial to meet the needs of the growing population. To better manage crops and bring more area under crops, information on the current status of change in crop areas must be known. Traditional methods of change detection often prove inadequate, necessitating a shift towards more advanced and data-driven approaches. The goal of this project is to design a novel application for change detection in agricultural land thereby to map and analyse the fluctuations and discrepancies involved in croplands of Davanagere. Remote sensing, particularly with satellite imagery, offers an effective means to detect and analyze changes in agricultural land in Davanagere region. The main objective of this project is to detect the land cover changes using satellite images for sustainable land cover planning in Davanagere region using Landsat-8 satellite images for a time period of 08 years from 2015 to 2022 considering the two season crop maps for alternate years.
