Analysis of Hybrid Airship Longitudinal Dynamics With Model Predictive Controller

The paper deals with a system "Hybrid Airship with suspended payload" to analyse the longitudinal dynamics and designing a model predictive controller for predicting the trajectories. The system used here includes hull, gondola, wings, fins with elevator and rigging mechanism. Hull is filled with helium gas to provide buoyancy for additional lifting force. Gondola as attached payload suspended in nature. wings to provide lifting and stability effect. Fins featured with control manoeuvre as elevator deflection. Rigging angle with attached knot of the rope having suspended payload mechanism for sliding the payload forward and backward. Elevator and rigging angle will be control input parameters for longitudinal control of the hybrid airship. Mathematical model of hybrid airship is used to develop model predictive controller. The model developed in [1] and [2] as a part of the research work used here for further analysis and for designing a controller. The result of work will help the system for better prediction. MATLAB and SIMULINK tools are used to develop the model with MPC as one-body dynamic and two-body dynamics approach. The linearized model used here is developed from its original nonlinear model developed in [1] and [2]. The alternate way to develop a model is based on parameter estimation and input output data with system identification techniques. The comparative study is done with MPC developed based on state space model approach for 3 DOF model and with system identification model developed for 4 DOF model.
