Design of a Novel Dipole Rectenna for Sub-6 GHz RF Energy Harvesting Applications

In this article, an ambient RF energy harvesting dipole rectenna is proposed for Sub-6 GHz range REH applications. The presented dipole antenna is excited at a resonance frequency of 6.22 GHz. An eye-shaped reflecting surface is added to the substrate’s top side in order to produce good radiation properties. A number of antenna characteristics are described, and the antenna parameters with varying reflecting surfaces are examined. A rectifier circuitry is designed for energy harvesting, which converts RF energy into DC. The return loss curve and transmission coefficient are plotted. From the author's perspective, the proposed dipole rectenna system would be a potential candidate for RF energy scavenging applications.
