Guardians of Privacy: Legal Challenges and Frameworks in the Era of Electronic Personal Data

Electronic personal data, which is a crucial aspect of the information age, is easily created and retained through developed technology and includes information such as names, addresses, medical history, payments made. Thus, the increasing use of technology brings new types of problems with them in relation to the privacy and protection of information of individual and of society. Especially it concerns the right of the person to be in charge of and secure his/her private data from other people that are not allowed to view it. In this regard, the need to construct the legal context that describes the essential characteristics of this information and how it should be protected is evident. This furthers the research questions in this paper: How does the nature of electronic personal data define the privacy law and what legal issues does the continuing advancement of technology in this area present? The relevance of this investigation is in explaining the close relationship between electronic personal data and the legal basis that protects this data. The aim is to bring to light the special characteristics of electronic personal data and the process of defining its legal protection and other rights associated with it. This study uses descriptive as well as analytical approaches to explore these sensitive issue
