Enhanced Multi-Mode Control Framework for Electro-Mechanical Brake System

An Enhanced multi-mode control framework for the electro-mechanical brake (EMB) system is proposed in this paper, which can guarantee fast and precise control of brake clearance and clamping force (CF) in typical braking conditions. Firstly, the system structure and control strategy of the EMB are introduced, and the equivalent simplified model of each component is established for the controller design. Secondly, the the sliding mode control-based brake clearance elimination controller is designed to overcome internal friction resistance and enhance braking response speed. Then, a precise CF control strategy based on the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) and position-speed double loop is established for disturbance adaptation and rapid deformation elimination. Furthermore, the CF unloading controller, featuring a position-speed double loop, ensures precise and rapid movement of the brake motor to the target position. The brake clearance restoration mode can restore the brake clearance to its initial value. Finally, a representative braking scenario is utilized to validate the algorithm and evaluate its performance, showing that the strategy ensures satisfactory dynamic control performance for the EMB system.
