Phase-Locking Dynamics of a Single-Loop Optoelectronic Oscillator with Phase Perturbation

In addition to revealing the frequency pulling phenomena that occurs when a radio frequency (RF) signal is fed into an opto-electronic oscillator (OEO), this research proposes an analytical method for studying the non-linear dynamics of a single-loop OEO. Under pulling to locked condition, the difference in phase is approximately predicted by the formulation of the phase perturbation. Here, we investigate how the phase difference, locking time, beat frequency, average frequency, and various optical fiber lengths affect the lock-range when subjected to a modest injection RF signal. Find the minimal power needed to lock the OEO for various injected signal frequencies as well. The frequency pulling phenomena is evident in every one of the analytical statements. The OEO output spectra's harmonics' amplitude can be adjusted and locked at a different frequency by adjusting the injected RF signal's power. To validate the analytical technique, the simulation results are also provided.
