An efficient Design of a Single RFID Check-in System Using Multiple Antennas

This paper presents a check-in system based on RFID technology. The adopted solution uses a multiplexer to interconnect several antennas using a single RFID reader. The flexibility is demonstrated through an advanced configuration including a selective activation/deactivation of the antennas, as well as the ability to set the communication time for each antenna. The limits of the multiplexer are also investigated with a 125 KHz RFID reader (RDM6300), we found that the multiplexer can handle up to 15 antennas with good reading quality, beyond this limit, the system performance decreases.
