Optimizing VLEO Constellations for IoT-NTN Using Genetic Algorithms

This paper presents a comparative analysis of satellite constellations using LoRa and NB-IoT communication specifications for IoT-NTN services. Through scenarios utilizing AIoT, we explored the optimal satellite configurations for both communication technologies. Genetic Algorithm simulations were employed to design satellite constellations that achieve the targeted average and maximum revisit times for Korea. The results highlight distinct characteristics of each communication specification and provide insights into the effectiveness of using LoRa or NB-IoT in specific satellite configurations, offering considerations for future implementations.
