Analysis of Standardized Impedance Models for Electrochemical AC Measurement Based on a Global Heuristic Algorithm

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a technique that is widely used in different fields, including corrosion studies, semiconductor science, energy conversion and storage technologies, chemical and biological sensing, and so on. This paper presents the portable impedance measurement system developed by the research group, which employs a system-on-chip (SoC) design and embedded software to address the limitations of personal computers (PCs) and data transmission. The system integrates a graphical user interface (GUI) and local area network (LAN) communication to overcome the challenges posed by these traditional approaches. Furthermore, this paper proposes an automatic analysis platform integrating the EIS modelling method and a global heuristic algorithm, which includes outlier rejection, smoothing filtering and validity verification functions. The system is combined with nine circuit equivalent models to achieve intelligent EIS data fitting, which improves the manual fitting process of Zview software. The experimental test results of the system and platform demonstrate that the power supply noise ripple is minimal and the signal meets expectations in the hardware test. The system stability and accuracy are satisfactory in the software test. In the function and algorithm tests, the data preprocessing significantly enhances the fitting degree of experimental data, and the ECM parameter fitting based on the heuristic global optimization algorithm performs well in terms of stability, accuracy, and runtime with an excellent performance. These results enhance the comprehension and analysis of intricate electrochemical systems, diminish the necessity for manual fitting, and furnish a dependable analytical instrument for electrochemical research and applications.
