Design of Positive Edge Triggered D Flip-Flop Using Quantum Dot Cellular Automata

This paper explores the design and energy dissipation of Positive Edge Triggered D Flip-Flop at nanoscale using Quantum Dot cellular Automata (QCA) technology. QCA technology is chosen for its superior performances such as low energy consumption, high switching, less electricity leakage, small size, less heat generation, and high noise immunity. The proposed QCA based Positive Edge D Flip-Flop design aims to achieve high switching speed and reduced power consumption, which is very crucial in modern digital circuit designs. Evaluating through QCA Designer version 2.0.3, it is revealed that Proposed circuit design exhibits better performances including high switching speed and lower energy compared to traditional alternatives. These results emphasize the QCA technology's potential to develop efficient and high-performance digital circuit designs contributing low power computations and enabling various future applications across various domains. In this paper, we present a brief overview of QCA technology, circuit design and simulation of positive edge triggered D Flip-Flop using 45 QCA cells occupying an area of 0.04 μm² with a low clock latency.
