A Monte-Carlo Simulation of Mode-Stirred Chambers with Standing Waves

A plane wave representation for the fields inside an ideal mode-stirred chamber is known from [1]. The superposition of plane waves satisfies both the Maxwell equations and the statistic distribution and spatial correlation of the field quantities. As the mode-stirred chamber is a cavity resonator, whose eigenmodes can be described by standing waves, a standing wave representation is also possible. Similarly from the plane wave approach a standing wave representation is deducable, since two plane wave with the same amplitude traveling in antiparallel directions form a standing wave. In the following paper it is shown that the plane wave and standing wave approach are analytically completely equivalent and numerically very similar.
