Research on a Dedicated Rapid Simulation and Analysis Platform for PDC Bit Bottom-Hole Flow Field Based on Secondary Development

This paper presents the development of an automated analysis platform for the bottom-hole flow field of Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) bits, utilizing secondary development techniques within ANSYS-Workbench and CFX software. The platform integrates pre-processing, solving, and post-processing modules to streamline and optimize the numerical simulation process. By separating the user interface from the underlying technical implementation, the platform simplifies the workflow, reducing the complexity and improving the efficiency of hydraulic performance analysis. Key features include parameterization, automation, and the ability to rapidly conduct simulations, significantly lowering the barriers to using CFD software. A case study using a PDC bit demonstrates the platform's implementation and effectiveness. The results indicate that the platform enables efficient and intuitive flow field analysis, reduces the time and effort required for analysis, shortens the development cycle of PDC bits, and delivers enhanced drilling performance. Field tests further validate the hydraulic performance improvements achieved through the optimized bit design, showcasing the platform's potential to support oil equipment companies in standardizing and improving their drilling technology.
